D was so, so sick Saturday night and Sunday, and I have to say I was pretty grossed out about it. Listening to someone wretch over a toiletbowl is about the most disgusting thing in the world, especially at 2 a.m. Blech. He was sick all day Sunday, too, and stayed in bed watching football and feeling alternately feverish and chilly. It was pretty bad. I'm happy to report that I did not catch whatever nasty virus he was afflicted with. (Damn you, dangling preposition.)
I escaped the sick house Sunday afternoon and visited with JP, freshly in from Japan. It was quite refreshing to see her. We spent the afternoon at a Bob and David (of Mr. Show) book signing at BookSoup. We even stood in line for autographs and took a very awkward-looking, yet amusing picture with them. It was wonderful.
C, JP and I engaged in a few minutes of "editing humor," which made me giggle.
"Which style guide do you use?"
"Chicago and New York Times,"
"Ah, so you guys use a lot of commas, then."
"No, not at all, as few as possible."
"Yeah, but you leave in the comma before the last "and" or "or" in a series, don't you."
"Nope. We even remove the commas before introductory phrases."
At this point, they both gasped audibly. Hillarious.
