Is it too late to write about my vacation? I hope so, 'cause I'm kinda not into it right now. All right, here's the brief recap:

Washington, D.C. : I liked the FDR Memorial. That guy was a genius. Ditto the Lincoln Memorial. Read the Gettysburg Address again, if you want to be moved. It's pretty hardcore. The Vietnam Memorial was powerful. The White House? OK from what we could see. Most of it's been blocked off for security. Whatev. Got a coupla pics anyway. The creepiest memorial was the Korean War Memorial. (You'll see what I mean if I ever post the pictures. I will. I promise.) The Smithsonian was a'ight. The coolest things there? Julia Child's kitchen and the hat Lincoln wore the night he was assassinated. The once-black hat is faded to brown. Interesting. Saw the Declaration and the Bill of Rights. Inspiring. Oh, we went to Ford's Theater, too. I highly recommend the museum there.

New York: Saw Avenue Q. With songs like "I Wish I Could Go Back to College," "Everyone's a Little Bit Racist" and "What Do You Do with a B.A. in English?" you can guess how much I adored this show. It was THE BEST. Also saw 42nd Street, which was also excellent. Saw a taping of The Daily Show. LOVE John Stewart. LOVE. Wandered around the Village. Ate at Joe's Pizza. Got caught in the rain a million times. But it was NEW YORK, and it was great.

Philadelphia: More than just the Liberty Bell and cheesesteaks. Saw Ben Franklin's House, Betsy Ross's house, the actual cobblestones upon which Thomas Jefferson and George Washington walked, Independence Hall and tons of other stuff. Philadelphia pleasantly surprised me. The Concert for Change was good. I didn't hate Bruce too much, and R.E.M didn't bore me as much as they usually do.

All in all, it was a good but exhausting trip. I planned to write a much more interesting account of it, but you know how it is - if you don't do it right away, it's kinda boring. Too bad, because I really wanted to tell you about the security guard that I almost threw down with at the Smithsonian, and other interesting tidbits. Maybe I'll write more when I post the pictures.
